Sergei Treytakov, professor at the Aalto University, School of Electrical Engineering, Finland, is Visiting Professor in June and July 2012 at the Abbe School of Photonics. During his stay he will give a series of lectures.

Sergei Tretyakov is Professor of Radio Engineering at the Aalto University, School of Electrical Engineering, Finland (before January 2010 - Helsinki University of Technology) and Principal Investigator, Finnish Centre of Excellence in Smart Radios and Wireless Research (SMARAD), Finnish Academy. Until 2000 he worked as Professor, Founder, and first Director of the Complex Media Electromagnetics Laboratory at the St. Petersburg State Technical University in Russia.

Research Interests
  • Electromagnetic theory and applications
  • Artificial electromagnetic materials and metamaterials
  • Electromagnetics of chiral, bi-isotropic and bianisotropic media
  • Electromagnetic modelling of composite materials and thin layers
  • Microwave and antenna engineering
  • Solar and thermal energy harvesting

Prof. Tretyakov has authored or co-authored more than 200 papers in refereed journals, 8 patents and patent applications, 14 book chapters, and four monographs. He was elected Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for contributions to artificial electromagnetic media for applications in wireless and optical systems. Professor Tretyakov coordinated the FP6 European Network of Excellence Metamorphose. This activity inspired the establishment of an international association of 24 European institutions, Metamorphose VI, which is chaired by him.
