Prof. Dr. Wei MIN
Dr. Wei Min, Professor for Biophotonics at the Columbia University, will be visiting the Abbe Center of Photonics and the Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology (IPHT) Jena in 2020. The lectures given during his stay will be announced with due time.
Dr. Min's research focuses on developing novel vibrational spectroscopy and microscopy to address biomedical problems. In particular, he is actively working on the development of stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) microscopy and its broad application in biophotonics including bioorthogonal chemical imaging of small molecules, super-multiplex vibrational imaging, and optical imaging of metabolic activities in vivo. His group is pursuing the following vision:
"Rapid advances in light microscopy have revolutionized our ability to study biological systems at the microscopic level. New physical instrumentation, chemical innovations and biological discoveries are constantly emerging. The central goal of our research group is to discover novel principles of optical imaging by exploring the interface between physics, chemistry, chemical biology, engineering and data science, and then apply these advanced Associate Professor of Optics, University of Rochester, NY, USA to address important areas in life sciences such as brain imaging, tumor metabolism and metabolic diseases. Meanwhile, we are also pushing these powerful technology into industrial, medical and clinical applications."
