What is DoKDoK?
DoKDoK is a scientific conference for doctoral (PhD) students of all areas of Optics and Photonics. Its purpose is to help young researchers to establish connections and engage in academic exchange, to polish their conference presentation skills, and discuss the ups and downs of university life.
DoKDoK is organised by a team of doctoral students of the Abbe School of Photonics (Friedrich Schiller University Jena), the host of this event.
Why should I participate in DoKDoK?
DoKDoK gives doctoral students the unique chance to get in close contact with other young researchers. The flat hierarchy creates an innovative and openminded environment to present and discuss achievements and new ideas, as well as difficulties in the scientific work of young researchers. Additionally, the scientific program is supplemented by keynote lectures from experienced scientists at the top of their fields. Furthermore, company representatives can give insights into job and career opportunities.
What topics did DoKDoK 2018 cover?
The conference addressed doctoral students, master students, and young post-docs working in Optics and Photonics. Covered topics included ultrafast optics, non-linear optics, biophotonics, spectroscopy, microscopy and imaging, micro- and nanooptics, quantum optics, optical sensing and metrology, optical system design semiconductor optics, and fiber optics.
