Photonics Online Meetup (POM) 2023
Organized by the OPTICA-SPIE Student Chapters, Jena was one local POM hub in this exciting international, hybrid experience.
Optica-SPIE Student Chapters at the Photonics Online Meetup 2023 at the Jena Hub.
On November 13-14, 2023, more than 60 Master and PhD students joined the Photonics Online Meetup (POM, https://photonicsonlinemeetup.orgExternal link), a completely free virtual conference dedicated to uniting a diverse community of researchers, including both early career enthusiasts and established experts from universities, industry, and government sectors all across the globe.
The POM seamlessly combined online and local elements. The heart of the local experience was teh local POM hub in Jena. At our hub, we hosted live broadcasts of POM events, in addition to a range of local activities designed to enhance the conference experience. The local events encompassed professional talks, networking opportunities, engaging poster and presentation sessions, lively pizza and drink gatherings, thought-provoking round table discussions, and illuminating local laboratory tours.
Great support in organization and networking is acknowledged to the local OSA-SPIE Student Chapters and their responsibles. The POM would not have been such a great success without them!
